One from the vaults! This was a practice session where we had the rare opportunity to hear Rog on a tenor saxomophone, featured on tracks “Set Break” and “Saxy Strut”.
In addition, Doug is playing a nylon string electric (eclectic!) and we’re using the old recording system, so just 8 tracks total. As all good practice tapes should, it starts off with “Duct Tape and Super Glue” and then breaks into a New Hit Single ™ tentatively titled “Homerotica II” before some saxomophoney goodness. Then we do two takes of the Actual New Hit Single ™, “I Used to Be Young” b/w “I Used to Be Younger”. It’s got the Metersey Sound, just missing some Hammond there.
Then there’s the 117-minute rendering of “Stuck Inside of Mobile” which sounds pretty good frankly. Then a JJWalker song and two takes of Dead Flowers, the second of which you’ll want to catch. Wrapped up by a harptastical Lazy River.
